A Career in Emergency Healthcare

The morning begins with an insight into a day in the life of an emergency doctor and well as other medical professional who work within trauma and the medical emergency field.  We will discuss these various different roles and the training pathway to get to them.

11:30-13:00

Surgical Hand Tie and Life Support Session

In this live demo session, we will learn how trauma surgeons knot hand ties to close lacerations. We will also learn how to administer first aid and the principles of basic life support.

Trauma Call

In our virtual operating theatre we discuss real patient cases and review real patient scans to learn about different types of trauma and how to manage them. Find out how the whole trauma team work together to manage complex cases in the emergency department.

ENT speciality doctor

Dr. Veronica, Ronnie, is an NHS doctor aspiring to be a specialist ENT (Ears, Nose, and Throat) surgeon. She loves anything health and fitness-related.  She is passionate about inspiring the next generation of scientists. She is also a strong advocate for Women in Science to encourage more girls to pursue careers in STEM and healthcare. 

Dr Osama

Trainee Radiologist

Dr. Osama started his specialist training in radiology and now works in pharmaceutical medicine. He has been tutoring for over 10 years ranging from 11+, GCSE, and A-Level to university level. He is a tech enthusiast and loves using technology to make his teaching sessions as interactive as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our tutors are all fully qualified doctors working who are passionate about teaching. We’ve been teaching students for over 10 years.

The program is held virtually. Once registered you will be sent a confirmation email with a personalized link to join the course (this is usually sent 1 week before the course start date). You don’t need to install any additional software. All you need is a computer, an internet connection and your suturing kit (we will send you this via post)

All you need is a computer with an internet connection and an inquisitive mind. We provide the rest.

This is entirely up to you. Our previous students have found that keeping a notepad alongside the sessions useful. 

The program is suitable for secondary school students of all ages. Most of our students are in years 10-13 (Ages 14+), however, there is no strict age limit. We’ve taught students ranging from ages 12 to fully qualified nurses. 

The course will provide an insight into healthcare and a chance to speak directly to fully qualified doctors. This will provide good talking points for your personal statement and interviews when it comes to your university application.

The program is designed to give you an insight into healthcare and to learn some interesting science that may not be covered in standard curriculum subjects. The course is not specifically designed to improve your grades however it is designed to complement your school studies and we will be covering general scientific principles which may be useful to your studies.
